We have now experienced our first major storm in our new home on Long Island. Sandy arrived on a Monday and was gone the next day. It was a powerful storm! The forest shook around us. Viggo was fascinated by the force of the storm. We were very lucky to loose power and water for only 48 hours. The days after the storm were gorgeous and we spent much time outside raking leaves and visiting the play ground. This family time, this time of drifting a little without any big must dos was terrific. But the boys did loose a week of school and breaking the routine has not been that easy for Viggo. He is slowly settling into work mode again. And I hear (from a very good source) that Viggo is flying through math. He loves it and is making huge strides! He does not get that from me : )
Before we were even aware of big storms moving our way I took my three boys to the city for a night. John and Mikko had a sleep over and Viggo and I visited friends in Brooklyn. I'm so proud of Viggo's behavior on this trip. Our bus ride in to the city was very long. We were in traffic leading up to the midtown tunnel for over an hour and once we reached the tunnel our bus was not allowed through. I took the boys off the bus at Queens Plaza and headed for the subway. Viggo did great. All the boys did great. The whole weekend consisted of a lot of commuting for Viggo but he so enjoyed the newness, the excitement and having me to himself. On our way home Viggo wasn't quite as well behaved, but the girls in the seat in front of us were so high on sugar that their behavior was definitely worse than his. Here are a few images from our trip:
