How do I write without repeating myself?
I feel like a cheering squad constantly echoing all these positive developments. Not that that's a bad thing. But the developments generally remain within a specific area. Seeing how Viggo develops within each area is incredible.
A couple of weeks ago things hadn't been running very smoothly at home or at pre-school. Viggo was demanding too much attention from everyone in his surroundings. He didn't want to listen and he wanted his way all the time. If we didn't comply, well then the end result was a tantrum.
Somewhere along the line I think I finally put my foot down. After that it din't take too long before Viggo suddenly gave up. He became much more harmonious and really started taking more and more of his own initiatives again.
On any given day at pre-school he would decide to give a dance performance, he made a book all by himself (drawing, cutting, glueing, the works!), he worked with making ice sculptures. We also made an ice sculpture at home:

One of Viggo's new interests is numbers. The teachers at pre-school made a very simple calculating "machine" from a milk carton. With it Viggo practices:"1+1=2, 1+2=3" etc. He shows very clearly when he wants to learn something or to master something. He has asked me to repeat the names of the five fingers on several occasions trying very hard to memorize the information.
But the single most important improvement over the past two weeks has been Viggo's sleep.
Viggo is suddenly sleeping 9-10 hour nights!!!
Yes, he still wakes up in the middle of the night at times, but he GOES BACK to sleep. He is in his own bed between 9 PM and 7 AM.
The link between sleep and positive development is clearer than ever.
Viggo wakes up fresh and happy in the morning and just talks and talks. At the breakfast table the other day Viggo was talking up a storm ("T-rex'es only exist on TV, right? I want to bring such and such a toy when we move to America, Soon winter will end and spring flowers will grow, In September it's my birthday and I'm turning 6."). I was trying to have a short exchange with George about the schedule (or something important like that) and I said to Viggo: "Mom needs to talk to dad for a little while."
Viggo answered: "Viggo is talking: bla, bla, bla, bla, bla. . . . . "
We all burst out laughing. Viggo was beaming.

On his very best days I play around with getting Viggo to speak English. There are times when he will repeat a full sentence in English when I ask him to. His pronunciation is beautiful.
Last weekend we built these duplo lego cable cars in the kitchen. It is so much fun to make up new games. That way we avoid all the old patterns and everyone in the family can enjoy the fun.
