Today is the last day of week 1.
I tried getting on line last night to write some updates, but our internet connection has decided to fail us. Will have to do something about that today.
What I would like to do is summarize the week somewhat:
The first two days were rough. I was tired and Viggo was tired and hungry. When we started the diet last Monday the last thing I wanted to do was to blog about anything.
On Wednesday things started turning around and have been steadily been getting better. Over the course of the week Viggo has been speaking more and more. New words are appearing all the time. He is mimicking his surroundings in a way he never has done before (both in language and action; like doing yoga). He has become a bit of a chatter box actually.
This morning he was playing with legos and counted to 15 in Swedish. Just like that!
The other big change is that he has become very emotional this week. Very attached to mom and dad and his two brothers. Last night at bedtime he started thinking about the possibility that I would leave him at pre-school for the night. This brought tears to his eyes. I don't know that he's ever done that before. He was imagining a future event that was upsetting to him and then reacting to it.
His "autistic" occupations are still there. His obsessions with car washes, trains etc.
But, the games are developing.
Yesterday Viggo visited his brother's hockey practice for the first time in very long. He was not impossible. He did not run away or circle the ice rink the way he used to.
When we got home he sat down and made necklaces!
It is hard not to get ones hopes up. I'm afraid to let my expectations get too high, but so far our work shows great potential. I will keep writing this blog to help me keep track of Viggo's developmnet.
Up and up!
